i was with swinton myself for a good few years, but they got greedy, and just wanted your money Swinton are just brokers; they get the insurance from someone else and take a commission ... don't suppose you can remember who your Swinton policy was really with? (I reckon there's a good chance it was ... Red Star Equity)

Hi Moby
I seem to remember I insured my Lambretta with them back in the 60's when you used to go to a broker and they would give you a hand written cover note. Happy memories

Just insured my Av50 with my broker ,tpft £40 .Got my other Mobys will them £49 the pair. They do my Honda & Kawaski separate.
They won't do three bikes on one policy so if I put another Moby I pay £ 9 admin charge only. . EG three policies 6 bikes.

They won't do three bikes on one policy so if I put another Moby I pay £ 9 admin charge only. . EG three policies 6 bikes. That's starting to get expensive. For a couple of Mobys, it's probably the better way to do it, but once you have three or more insured, you're better off having them all on a single policy. Most of the 'classic' policies don't have a limit on the number of machines, the premiums will start going up once the total value of machines exceeds z threshold ... but it would take a lot of Mobys to reach that sort of value.

My policy covers up to 4 clasics and a total value of £2,500. I have 3 RM5s and an RM9 on it Joanna has her policy and it covers the RM6 and her (soon to be on the road once I get the paperwork off to the EACC)RM5 with the option of adding 2 more. Only down side is the policy can only be for one person and won't cover me on any one elses. So I can only ride my 4 and jo can only ride her 2 if that makes sence.

well billbo i have 3 bikes on my policy with red star, and are fully comp, and i can also ride anyone elses 50cc bike with their permission, provided their bike is also insured, iam now looking at the prospect of trying to get some form of discount, for the rest of the eacc crew up here through them, got to be worth a punt, have got to see how many members are needed to qualify for something like this though,as posted on here some insurance companies are a minedfield to deal with when it comes to different policies

well camp insured my av33 on the frame number, and was also tested on the frame number, then just phoned the brokers when i got my age related number from the dvla, but if you are intending to reg the bike as a trails bike it my not be on the list of brokers bike catorgaries, even though its a ped,and a recognised ped manufactuer, would seek some further advice off someone like superlux as he is pretty genned up on things like this,or no doubt some one else on the forum, will steer you in the right direction, regards john

What do you want to insure it for? Nowadays, the easiest way is to register it first, and insure it later. You only need to insure it first if you're going to ride it to the MoT ... if you can get it to the MoT by van or trailer, leave the insurance until you know what the registration number will be.
