Hello, I am planing to organise a trip from Paris to the Loch Ness, in 2016. I am only at the first step after the dream! It means I am only at the begining of the adventure ! I will probably seek help/advises from Moped fans. At this time, I am wandering if, in London, mopeds can access toff-free to the very center ? Is there any other toll zone in other UK cities ? Thanks for your feed-back Fred www.mamob.jimdo.com

At this time, I am wandering if, in London, mopeds can access toff-free to the very center ? The London Congestion Charge does not apply to motorcycles or mopeds ... even with a sidecar. London also has a Low Emisson Zone but that doesn't apply to motor cycles either.

Done a few long moped runs and always try and avoid town centers, there are no toll fees for London (or any other towns) but there is no way I would consider riding through London.

yes billbo45, it will be will great pleasure to meet (or to ride with !...)Moped UK fan at that occasion. Thanks for the invitation ! I am starting to gather various "tourism/cultural" information on various local spot I could visit/pass through during my trip in UK. This bridge (which I did not knew), is a little bit like our "viaduc de Millau" in south of France. Good spot to pass by and to film with my gopro! At the time being, I have 2 main destination/attraction a French guy dreams to see, which are the Loch Ness, and the Portmeirion village. Therefore I will probably arrive in UK via Dover, then London, then the Est coast to Scotland, and back via the West coat, the Wales, and Cornwall if time left. I am planning a one month road trip. Now, this being said I wish to see thousand of other local spots, and not necessarely known ones. I am not really a kind of "rubber-neck!" : I like also off-centre topics, because " I am not a number, but a free man !" (At least I wish I am!) I will post some prevision destimation in my site. All suggested ideas are most welcomed ! Thanks in advance Fred

Yes. ,your "viaduc de Millau " ,on the A75,is a sight to see.
Been across it many times.often on our Harley trips to the Eurofest at St Tropez. Never fails to impress.
Don't think the Humber bridge is in the same league. !!!!!!!!

Designed by the British architect Norman Foster and French engineer Michel Virlogeux. And very impressive it is too.

If you would like to include the humber bridge enroute you are welcome to stop off at my home Thank you so much. I am studying my route through UK. Humber bridge would be a destination (Stage Cambridge/Scunthorpe 186km). I was wandering, according to ViaMichelin, the road number is A15. Are mopeds aloud to ride on a Axx road ? Do you have information that can be useful for me as a foreigner, as far as riding a moped is concerned ? Tips? interdiction ? ... Thanks Fred

Are mopeds aloud to ride on a Axx road ? Yes, allowed ... but on many A roads, riding a moped may not be pleasant. Mopeds are not allowed on Motorways, which have Mxx numbers. Some A roads are Motorways too, mopeds are not allowed on these, which have AxxM numbers. There are a few sections of A roads (eg, through tunnels) where mopeds are not allowed.

Be warned, whilst the A15 is ,in most places,a very straight road,it is mostly single carriage way. It carries a lot of traffic including a lot of heavy goods vehicles so take great care.
I have driven it many times & don't regard it as a very scenic route but prob the most direct for you.

Hehe try Croydon to London Bridge via Brixton and praying you don't brake down!!!!! To be fair the more into London you get the better it is as the traffic is moving so slow! riding round Chelsea and Hyde park on Eric was great fun when I took him up there a few years ago!

For sure, your English is better than mine, and I am not having understood all you have written... Anyway, starting my trip from Paris city (a stop/picture in front of Eiffel Tower-typical!), I can not ride through out UK without another stop/picture in front of London bridge, Big Ben or/and Picadily !! I have hesitated because I am not found of heavy traffic(who is ?!), but I can not do without a Londond stop ! I am preparing my various stages. I am also preparing my mopped : at the time being I am up-grading its motor from AV7 to AV10. I will keep you posted soon with pictures ! Fred

First test with my AV10. It has much power than the AV7. I like it, and the electronical "allumage", with 12volt allow me to ride with my lamps AND horn available at the same time. It is much safer in town.

Still 3 month before departure !... I have a question regarding the gas station in UK. Do you still have the gallon system or do you have the liter one (metrics) ?

Metric now . Be aware tho filling stations do not ,normally ,stock either mixed two stroke fuel or two stroke oil.
If you require the oil it is stocked by cycle & motorist shop under the name Halfords . Obviously it is available thro many other motorist shops .
Hope you have a good trip.

I haven't finished reading it yet. Lol.
Hope all is OK with you as I see you haven't looked in on the forum for quite a while. I guess you are too busy judging by your active lifestyle.
Happy mobying.------mamob.over-blog.com/
